Domestic Abuse Links

There are many organizations designed to help abused women and children. Here are some organizations where you might find information and help.

Justice for Children – JFC “is the voice for abused and neglected children.  When these children get lost or forgotten we provide a safety net through legal support, monitoring of and guidance through the system.”

National Coalition Against Domestic Violence –their stated mission is “ to organize for collective power by advancing transformative work, thinking and leadership of communities and individuals working to end the violence in our lives.”

The Leadership Council – “a nonprofit independent scientific organization composed of respected scientists, clinicians, educators, legal scholars, and public policy analysts…committed to providing professionals and lay persons with the latest scientific information on issues that may affect the public’s health and safety.”

Center for Judicial Excellence – “is a community-based organization established to improve the judiciary’s public accountability and strengthen and maintain the integrity of the courts. Since 2008, the CJE board has made a special commitment to protecting the rights of children and vulnerable populations in the courts.”

Battered Mothers Custody Conference – “Our on-going goal is to host a national public forum to address the many complex issues facing battered women as they strive to protect themselves and their children during divorce, custody, and visitation disputes.”

Lundy Bancroft has written numerous books on batterers, especially batterers and abusers getting custody in family courts. “Lundy Bancroft is an author, workshop leader, and consultant on domestic abuse and child maltreatment.”

Courageous Kids is an organization designed to give children a voice. The young people who have written their stories have experienced family court rulings that have forced them to live with the person they named as their abuser. Jennifer Collins is now heading up this site.
